Yellow-casqued Hornbill Conservation in the Ebo Landscape

Project description

This multidisciplinary project investigates the status, habitat relationships and threats affecting the Yellow-casqued Hornbill in the Ebo Forest landscape. It combines ecological surveys, habitat assessment, documentation of human pressures and engagement with forest-edge residents.

Activities

Ecological surveys

Hornbill and bird-community surveys across forest sampling stations.

Habitat assessment

Measurement of vegetation characteristics, food availability and landscape conditions.

Threat assessment

Documentation of hunting, logging and other human-pressure indicators.

Community engagement

Research on local ecological knowledge, wildlife use and opportunities for more participatory conservation.

Project status

The research and engagement phases are ongoing. Findings are being developed into scientific publications, conservation recommendations and a community-engagement pilot.
